eSIM setup on iPhone (iOS)

This guide explains step by step how to install a travel eSIM on iPhone (iOS) with a QR code or manually, select the right line for data and get connected at your destination.

Step-by-step installation

    Open the add-eSIM menu

    Go to Settings › Cellular (Mobile Data) › Add eSIM.

    Scan the QR code

    Point the camera at the QR code in your email. If it won’t scan, tap “Enter Details Manually” and type the SM-DP+ address and activation code.

    Name the line

    Give the new line a name such as “Travel”; your main line stays as it is.

    Choose the data line

    Under Settings › Cellular › Cellular Data, select the travel line and turn off “Allow Cellular Data Switching”.

    Turn on roaming on arrival

    When you arrive, turn on Settings › Cellular › [travel line] › Data Roaming for the travel line only. Keep roaming off on your main line.

    Check the connection

    The status bar should show a local network name and the 4G/5G icon. Restart the phone once if needed.

Troubleshooting

The QR code says “invalid”

Each QR code can be used only once. If the eSIM was already added it appears in the list; if it was deleted, contact support for a new code.

The eSIM is installed but there is no internet

Check that the travel line is selected for mobile data and that Settings › Cellular › [travel line] › Data Roaming is on. Toggle airplane mode on for 10 seconds, then off.

No network found

Switch network selection from automatic to manual, pick a supported operator from the list, then switch back to automatic.

I am asked for an APN

Most plans set the APN automatically. If asked, enter the APN from your email in the mobile network settings.

My main line was turned off

Both lines can stay on at the same time. Turn the main line back on in the SIM manager and keep only mobile data on the travel line.
