How to Set Up an eSIM on Android: Samsung, Pixel and More
Steps to install a travel eSIM on Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel and other Android phones, plus line preferences, data roaming and common errors.

On Android, eSIM menus are named slightly differently depending on the brand, but the logic is the same: scan the QR code, choose the line, turn on data roaming. You need Wi-Fi during installation.
Samsung Galaxy
- Open Settings > Connections > SIM manager.
- Tap Add eSIM and use Scan QR code.
- When installation finishes, name the line something like “Travel”.
- Choose the travel eSIM for Mobile data; keep your main line for calls and SMS.
Google Pixel
- Go to Settings > Network & internet > SIMs.
- Tap Add SIM > Download a SIM instead? and scan the QR code.
- After installation, turn on Mobile data and Roaming on the travel line.
Other brands (Xiaomi, OPPO, Motorola…)
The menu is usually under Settings > Mobile network / SIM cards > eSIM. If the option is missing, your phone may not support eSIM; check the device compatibility list.
Travel day checklist
- Data roaming on for the travel line.
- Data roaming off for your main line.
- Travel eSIM selected as the mobile data line.
- No connection? Toggle airplane mode or set network selection to automatic.
