Is My Phone eSIM Compatible? A One-Minute Check
The quickest ways to find out if your phone supports eSIM: the EID code, the settings menu, carrier lock and compatible iPhone, Samsung and Pixel models.
Contents
The first question before buying an eSIM: does my phone support it? The good news is that checking takes less than a minute.
Fastest method: the EID code
Dial *#06# on your phone. If you see a 32-digit number called EID, your phone has an eSIM chip.
Check in settings
- iPhone: Settings → Mobile/Cellular → if you see “Add eSIM” or “Add Cellular Plan”, it is compatible.
- Samsung: Settings → Connections → SIM Manager → “Add eSIM”.
- Google Pixel: Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs → “Download eSIM”.
General compatibility list
| Brand | eSIM models (examples) |
|---|---|
| Apple | iPhone XS, XR and later |
| Samsung | Galaxy S20 and later, Z Fold/Flip series |
| Pixel 3 and later |
Support can vary by model and region; the full list is on our eSIM compatible devices page.
Carrier lock
Even if your phone supports eSIM, a travel eSIM will not work if the phone is locked to another carrier. See our carrier lock guide for details.
